2023-2024 Arts + Ideas Season is set at Weinstein JCC

The 2023-24 Arts + Ideas season is here!

Join us for another amazing year of exciting and compelling programs in music and dance, performing and visual arts, film and speaker events, all presented through a Jewish lens.

Individual subscriptions start at $275 and sponsorships with benefits such as reserved seats, VIP meet-and-greet receptions, extra tickets and livestream recordings start at $1,500.

A full listing of all Arts + Ideas programs along with ticket, subscription and sponsorship details can found at www.weinsteinjcc.org.

The season kicks off with the local Richmond award-winning stage, film and TV actor, Scott Wichmann, often referred to as “Mister Showtime,” performing People of the (Great American Song) Book.

With a focus on Jewish composers, Wichmann will showcase how the Gershwins, Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen and Sammy Cahn, Jerome Kern and others helped to express the hope, yearning, passion, heartache and lyricism of 20th Century America.

Join us on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m., in the Israel November Auditorium for this special musical event. Note: This is a re-scheduled date.

The Fife-Davis Family Annual Jewish Book Fair will take place during the month of November, National Jewish Book Month.

The 5400 Club will host authors virtually on Mondays, Nov. 6, 13, 20 and 27. In-person events will welcome local authors, Rachel Beanland and Brittany Mullins.

Following great success with her debut novel, Florence Adler Swims Forever, Beanland will discuss her new novel, The House is on Fire, on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 10:30 a.m.

A riveting re-imagining of one of early America’s deadliest tragedies, the Richmond Theater Fire of 1811, The House is on Fire is told from the perspectives of four characters whose lives are irrevocably altered in the aftermath of the inferno.

Co-hosted by Jewish Woman’s Club, this event is free and open to the public. Kindly RSVP.

Brittany Mullins is a holistic nutritionist and creator of the Eating Bird Food blog. Her new cookbook Mostly Veggies: Make-Ahead Meals for Healthy Living, includes delicious, healthy recipes along with the tools and tricks you can use every day to implement simple changes to feel your best self!

Join us for a book talk and cocktail party with Brittany on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. Admission is $30 ($25 JCC Members) and includes yummy samples from Mullins’ book along with complimentary wine! Kosher dietary laws observed.

Books for both author events will be available for purchase at the Weinstein JCC and book signings will take place at the events.
