We are so excited to invite the entire community to share in celebrating our Music & Choral Director, Natan Berenshteyn, on Friday, May 10 (service begins at 6:15 p.m).

For 25 years, Natan Berenshteyn has been our accompanist, then Choral Director, and eventually Music Director at Congregation Beth Ahabah.

Along with his skills at playing piano, Natan is a gifted composer who has written many Jewish liturgical and other compositions. Our Shabbat service will feature many of his original compositions, sung by our adult choir plus special guest choral singers from Atlee High School.

In addition to all his accomplishments at Beth Ahabah, Natan has been a musical fixture in Jewish Richmond, bringing his talent and creativity to countless Jewish community services, concerts, and more.

In his musical career here, he has played for Richmond Ballet, in various local concerts, and has taught full-time at Atlee High School, taking many hundreds of students to annual Show Choir competitions.

Some of Natan’s original music for solo voice is available in the album recorded in honor of his 20th year with Beth Ahabah (CDs and digital downloads available for purchase at

bethahabah.org/20-years-of-songs).

To further celebrate Natan, a live album will be released featuring choral compositions and arrangements heard during the May 10 service!

All proceeds from sales of the album or the upcoming live album go to the congregation’s Cantor Goldman Music Fund. This fund benefits our members and entire Jewish community by underwriting programs to bring other celebrated Jewish musicians to Richmond, and by supporting other important Jewish music and congregational music programs .
