The Sisisky Fellows program, generously supported by the Mark and Susan Sisisky JDC Global Enrichment Fund of Richmond Jewish Foundation, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of Jewish leaders.

Selected through a competitive process, young adult Jewish leaders embark on transformative international journeys through JDC Entwine programs.

These experiences provide deep insights into global Jewish communities and urgent global issues, inspiring fellows to drive positive change.

The 2024 Sisisky Fellows will embark on a transformative trip to Georgia and Azerbaijan from November 11-18.

Exploring the vibrant communities of Tbilisi, Gori, and Kutaisi, they will engage directly with local community members, forging meaningful connections and gaining firsthand insights into the rich cultural heritage of these regions.

Participants will also have the opportunity to:

  • Discover the Jewish communities of Tbilisi, Gori, and Kutaisi.
  • Engage with local community members and spend Shabbat with young professional leaders at Hillel Tbilisi.
  • Participate in home visits and deliver needed supplies to elderly community members to learn about JDC’s Hesed welfare model.
  • Spend a day at a JDC-supported community center and help lead activities and discussions for at-risk children, teens, and parents served by Georgia’s Jewish Family Service.
  • Experience Georgia’s rich and unique culture and cuisine through khachapuri, wine, traditional dance, and exploring Tbilisi’s cobblestone streets.

Upon their return, each fellow brings back a unique perspective and a renewed commitment to service, enriching our community with their insights and initiatives.

This trip is being offered to Richmond community members through the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond in partnership with JDC and RJF.

JCFR is excited to bring 18-20 future Jewish leaders on this trip. Interested individuals can reach out to Brad Kaplan for more details.

All participants will go through an application process to join the trip, ensuring a selection of dedicated and passionate future leaders.
