School is starting, leaves are starting to turn, and the High Holy Days are just around the corner. Summer vacations have ended, but the excitement is beginning for Richmond’s Jewish families with young children!

Congregation Beth Ahabah’s fall season kicks off with the first day of Religious School on Sunday, Sept. 8.

We look forward to seeing all of our First Steps (pre-K) through 7th grade students, as well as our teachers and madrichim! Classes will be followed with socializing and snacks.

Our monthly popular Tot Shabbat program – created especially for kids five and under and the people who drive them around – returns on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m.

Held at Beth Ahabah and led by our energetic clergy, the morning will feature singing, dancing, and Shabbat celebrations followed by snacks and bouncy house fun!

Join us in October for our community High Holy Days celebrations beginning with the Rosh Hashanah Young Family Service on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. The music-filled service featuring the sounds of the shofar will be followed by a reception with apples, honey, and other sweet treats.

Later that afternoon, everyone is invited to Pony Pasture for a 4:30 p.m. Tashlich service by the James River as we celebrate a new year by tossing our sins into the water.

Parents and children are invited to our Yom Kippur Family Service at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about the traditional holiday liturgy, get an up-close look at the Torah, and experience the haunting sounds of the Kol Nidre.
