KRISTALLNACHT MEMORIAL SERVICE
EMEK SHOLOM HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL CEMETERY
NOVEMBER 10, 2024, AT 2 P.M.
Every year Richmond Jewry gathers on the Sunday nearest to Nov. 9-10, the Night of Broken Glass, to remember our people who were slaughtered in the Shoah. It is not only our ancestors we recall, but also those fellow Jews murdered this past year and those fellow Jews who continue to be held hostage.
This year we will light SEVEN candles; six candles for the six million exterminated in the Holocaust and one candle for those murdered on October 7, 2023, and for the hostages remaining imprisoned.
The Emek Sholom Cemetery Company and The Jewish Community Federation of Richmond invite the entire community to attend the 69th annual Kristallnacht Memorial Service on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Emek Sholom Holocaust Memorial Cemetery. The cemetery is located in Forest Lawn Cemetery at 4000 Pilots Lane, in eastern Henrico County.
We are honored that Rabbi Elisha Paul, Rabbi Sherry Grinsteiner, and Cantor Sara Beck-Berman will participate in the service. The keynote speaker is Orly Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of the Weinstein Jewish Community Center. The family speaker is Heidi Nunnally, whose mother Frances Nunnally, OBM, was a Holocaust Survivor. Melissa Krumbein will carry the flag of Israel in honor of her son who is serving in the Israel Defense Force.
Never in our lifetime would we Jews believe hatred and antisemitism against the Jewish people would return with such vengeance. We are Here and we proclaim NEVER AGAIN IS NOW!
