We went to the Virginia Holocaust Museum with our 8th grade class thinking we would learn more about this horrible genocide, however we came out feeling more connected to my Jewish heritage than ever.
Going with our family (our dad, aunt, and Grandma) allowed us to be even more grateful after seeing all of the loss that occurred.
The Museum has educational exhibits that are engaging to a typically rambunctious 8th grade class. The museum’s personal touches truly made this museum special.

While the museum was lovely, the true star was Holocaust Survivor Ms. Helina Zimm. Our class was lucky enough to meet with Ms. Zimm.
She was kind enough to talk to us for an hour-and-a-half and spared no detail and let us ask any question we wanted while she shared her journey.
Ms. Zimm’s kind personality is shown through even while sharing the horrors of her journey.
Ms. Zimm’s kindness resonated with everyone and we all took away from her generosity that love always wins. This was a once and a lifetime opportunity that we’ll never forget.
