On the morning of Sept. 29, young Jewish adults came together at Keneseth Beth Israel (KBI) for a special “Cook and Connect” event organized by the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond’s NextGen division and Beth-El’s “The Bridge.”
The group gathered to prepare stuffed cabbage and black and white cookies – classic Jewish dishes – as part of a volunteer effort to support November’s Richmond Jewish Food Festival set to be held at KBI this year. (see Richmond Jewish Food Festival article featured in this issue)
The KBI kitchen buzzed with activity as participants learned how to craft the traditional dish, while enjoying each other’s company and strengthening community ties. This collaborative event served not only as a cooking lesson but also as a way to build deeper relationships within the community.
As they prepared for the upcoming Richmond Jewish Food Festival Nov. 10-11, the group left with a sense of accomplishment, knowing they contributed both to a future event and to the fabric of Richmond’s Jewish life.
