Weinstein JCC is proud to host the 16th Annual Israeli and International Jewish Film Festival from Jan. 7-27, as part of the 2024-2025 Arts + Ideas Season.

This popular film festival is presented by Weinstein Properties and is dedicated to fostering an understanding of Israeli and Jewish culture as well as introducing viewers to Israel’s young but thriving film industry.

This annual festival features films based upon various considerations such as awards and nominations, timely subject matter, and most importantly, input from the volunteer film committee.

This year’s film festival will, once again, host screenings at locations in the local Richmond area including Virginia Museum of History & Culture, The Byrd Theatre, and Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

The schedule of films with a brief synopsis and viewing times, along with information about purchasing individual tickets or film passes for the screenings, can be found at weinsteinjcc.org.

The film festival will kick off with We Will Dance Again at The Byrd Theatre.

This film event, cohosted by Jewish Community Federation of Richmond, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7.

The film meticulously reconstructs the events of Oct. 7, 2023, capturing the raw emotions and heroism that emerged.

Following the film, there will be a talkback with Yuval Simon Tov, a former IDF soldier who attended the Nova Music Festival and witnessed first-hand the brutal events that took place.

Thank you to Ellen Elmaleh, Lisa and Andy Fratkin, Jill and Ben Kutner, Risa and Jay Levine, Leslie McManus and David Buchsbaum, Kate and Todd Moore, Leah and Michael Schuldiner, Eileen Schulman, and Suzy Schreibfeder for the countless hours spent watching, reviewing and discussing the films in consideration of the festival.

The Film Festival committee is proud of this year’s film festival lineup, which can be found online at www.weinsteinjcc.org.

The Weinstein JCC is supported, in part, by a generous annual contribution, and programming grants from the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond.
