After tremendous growth last semester, JVCU is planning for even more in the Spring.

Rabbi Menachem and Daniela Lessoff, along with their student board have put together a full calendar of events over the next several months.

“Our goal is to find every Jewish student on campus, regardless of their background or where they come from, because we are a home for everyone,” said Rabbi Lessoff.

In addition to Friday night dinners that have grown to include an average of 30 students each week, they are launching unique social programs, cultural evenings, and fun outings. A major highlight this semester will be the introduction of the renowned Sinai Scholars program, an in-depth initiative focused on the foundations of Judaism.  It offers fresh and fascinating perspectives on Jewish values, traditions and identity.

Of course, they are also hard at work preparing for an exciting Purim party weekend and planning a grand Passover Seder.  The students are eager not only to participate, but to learn more about the holiday traditions and celebrate with their friends.

“We continue to be amazed and so proud of the energy Rabbi Menachem and Daniela put into all that they do at VCU and the incredible way they connect with and inspire the students,” commented Rabbi Yossel Kranz.

In addition to many happenings at JCVU, the rooms on the second floor of 1003 Grove Ave. are now ready for student tenants.

After much hard work and donor support, cozy bedrooms, brand new bathrooms and a comfortable resident student lounge are available.  This gives “a home away from home for Jewish students” a whole new dimension!

The community is always welcome to stop by and meet Menachem and Daniela and see firsthand the vibrant Jewish Life on the VCU campus.  Rabbi@jewishvcu.org, (804) 404-3637.
