Lisa Roday discusses her new book.

“Fingerprintz”— The Powerful Story of Overcoming Adversity

On Sunday, Nov. 24 at 6:30 p.m., Or Atid’s past president and congregant, Lisa Roday, discussed her new book, Fingerprints, One Woman’s Journey Through Loss, Love and Very Little Babies.

Lisa related how an early parental death, problem pregnancies, and preemie births, offered her a challenging journey.

Her book is a candid look at the challenges, losses, and hard choices women face as they juggle work, relationships, and motherhood.

Lisa wrote Fingerprintz to provide a companion for others who face their own obstacles.  In her stirring memoir, Lisa’s narrative begins with the sudden death of her 47-year-old father.  Rather than crush her 21-year-old self, this is the pivotal moment that sustains Lisa in each new crisis she faces, including two harrowing preterm births.

With remarkable candor, a little dry humor, and plenty of heart, Lisa’s book explores how the experiences that shake us to our core can make us stronger than we could ever imagine.

Lisa also related that grief, however heavy, can give way to grit and determination, fill us with a deep sense of gratitude, and soften and shape us.

The audience learned that no matter where you are in your journey, this book will inspire you to stay the course to a place of light.

Congregation Or Atid continues to help our community in need

Congregation Or Atid recently held its annual canned good drive for the JCC’s Elmer Toth Food Pantry.

As of this date, over 530 pounds of canned goods were donated to the pantry.

Shari Menlowe-Barck, coordinator of the JCC food pantry, expressed her great appreciation for this substantial contribution.

In addition, over 260 pounds of organically grown produce, which was harvested from Congregation Or Atid’s Gan Chesed garden, was donated to the JCC’s food pantry during 2024.  The garden continued to produce vegetables well into November.

The food pantry is grateful for this generosity in helping them serve those in our community in need. See attached picture
