April 11: “Decoding Deception: How to Teach About Nazi Propaganda”
This professional development workshop equips educators with the tools to analyze and teach the impact of propaganda during the Nazi era.
Propaganda has played a significant role throughout history—and continues to shape narratives today. This session will explore the key terms, definitions, and historical context of Nazi propaganda, including the influence of figures like Joseph Goebbels. Participants will engage in hands-on activities using primary sources to examine how propaganda targeted different victim groups. Educators will also discuss how to connect these lessons to American history and empower students to critically analyze propaganda in contemporary contexts.
April 23: “Teaching the Human Story – An Exploration of Dimensions in Testimony”
Join the Virginia Holocaust Museum and Echoes & Reflections for a full-day professional development workshop focused on the personal stories of Holocaust survivors.
Educators will explore classroom lessons, visual history testimonies, and other resources that emphasize the human experience and its ongoing relevance.
Special attention will be given to the Dimensions in Testimony platform, which allows students to engage with interactive survivor biographies both in-person and in the classroom.
