We See You

Our eyes, ears, and hearts bear witness to the remnants of the life you knew.

Your homes, your places of refuge now captured by those whose intention

was to destroy you; to end your existence. The rooms designated for safety

no longer fulfill their purposes as bullets entered your safe places. And

smoke from the fires that were set stole your breath….…..little by little.

We can only imagine your fear as your oasis; your paradise, as you knew it,

was no more. Burned sofas and the evidence of childhood joy spent on

bicycles and swings remain. But the children’s voices……now silent.

We consider the horror and heartbreak of moms and dads whose basic

instincts and greatest desires are to protect and comfort those birthed from

their loins. We imagine lips that cautioned quiet or whispered run……..hide!

Or the ultimate sadness felt as they learned that your hiding places did not

offer a way of escape.

For those no longer with us; our thoughts are of you; You Were Loved.

For those with status unknown; our thoughts are with you. You Are Loved.
