Camp Seed

Camp Seed has always been 4 weeks (typically July).

This year we’ve added 2 weeks at the end, which is KBI Kids Camp (Seed girls have left).

We’ve also added 6 weeks for 3-4 year olds which is KBI Kids Camp as well.

So, camp is 6 weeks this year.

KBI Kids camp will be staffed with teen counselors with adult supervision. Sarah Chandler is in charge of all weeks for camp (Camp Seed and KBI Kids Camp).

The kids will not only have discussions of Judaism but will have lots of fun activities, which the Seed girls are known for creating. There will be field trips off site as well as special activities on site.

The Seed girls also host events for the adults in evenings a few times (about once a week) that the moms loved last year.

For camp information, contact Sarah Chandler at (347) 821-1590 or Nancy Winston at (804) 288-7953.

Momentum

Join us for an unforgettable seven-day journey to Israel with Momentum, departing June 30 – July 6!

In partnership with Keneseth Beth Israel, this incredible opportunity is designed for Jewish mothers with children at home who want to deepen their connection to Israel, Jewish values, and a supportive community of women.

KBI has proudly partnered with Momentum since 2013, supporting many journeys for members of the Richmond Jewish community.

Our dedicated and connected alumni network continues to inspire and uplift one another long after the trip ends.

Past Momentum participants have experienced powerful moments—volunteering in Israeli communities, meeting survivors and leaders, and celebrating Shabbat at the Kotel—all while forming lasting friendships.

This is more than just a trip; it’s a transformative experience that will leave a lasting impact on you and your family.

“Fun for All Ages: JLEAP Purim Palooza Brings Excitement and Smiles”

The scent of popcorn filled the air as families walked into Jleap’s Purim Palooza.

From pony rides to colorful face painting stations, or racing through the inflatable obstacle course or savoring the delicious treats, everyone couldn’t help but smile as they immersed themselves in the fun. One of the most popular attractions of the day was the pony rides. Children lined up eagerly, their eyes wide with amazement as they waited for their turn. Rocky, the pony, was calm and gentle, as he carried young riders on the grassy field while parents snapped photos from the sidelines.

For many it was their first time riding a pony! Meanwhile, inside the November auditorium, balloon artists amazed children with their lightning-fast skills, twisting vibrant balloons into flowers, swords, and even whimsical hats. Everyone enjoyed their special creation to take home.

Face painting is always a highlight of any event, bringing out the creativity and imagination of both adults and children.

Children waited patiently in line to transform into their favorite characters — superheroes, princesses, butterflies and fierce tigers. Afterwards, the children were excited to walk around the JCC showing off their creative designs. At the spin art station, guests created dazzling masterpieces by splashing colorful paints onto spinning canvases.

Children huddled around the table, admiring each other’s creations. To keep with the Purim theme, children were able to experience putting together Mishlach Manot and making their own Tzedakah boxes.

After choosing a bag, children were able to choose different types of snacks and a juice box to put in their bag. When creating their own Tzedakah boxes, children colored a scene of Jerusalem and then taped it on the Tzedakah box.

What a great keepsake to display at home! The inflatable obstacle course was a hub of endless energy-burning fun with children racing through tunnels, leaping over barriers, and sliding to victory again and again. Carnival games such as ring toss, skee ball, and bowling for Haman kept guests entertained as well.

The sound of laughter as prizes being claimed echoed through the room. The Photo Booth was another crowd-pleaser. To capture memories of their day families and friends gathered at the photo booth, posing with props and signs.

Of course, no carnival is complete without tasty food. The scent of freshly spun cotton candy filled the air, while guests lined up for classics like soft pretzels and buttery popcorn. Kids raced around with sticky fingers and smiles, savoring each bite. In honor of the Purim holiday we had a variety of delicious hamentashen as well.

“These types of events bring all Jews together creating memories for the whole community” said Jleap’s event organizer Sarah Chandler.“

It’s amazing to see children learn and participate in activities that bring their Jewish traditions to life. We hope families enjoy all the souvenirs that children got to take home”.

With lots of smiles, the special memories created, arms full of prizes and bellies full of treats, guests left the carnival buzzing with excitement — already counting down the days until next year’s event in the fall.
