A Purim Celebration for the “Princes”
On the evening of Friday March 14, Or Atid held a Purim celebration/community Kabbalat Shabbat with dinner.
The Kabbalat service was extra special!
Congregants came in costumes ranging from Snow White and Cookie Monster to princes, princesses, kings, and even hamantaschen!
Over 90 adults and kids of all ages sang, danced, and joined in the retelling of the Purim story.
Queen Vashti (aka Rabbi Sherry Grinsteiner) led the children in song and dance while Cantor Sharon McCord played the guitar. It was such a joyful celebration for all in attendance.
Following an interactive Megillah reading and costume contest, prizes were awarded, and then everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner with hamantaschen, of course! There was even a cocktail station for the adults, which added a little extra fun!
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped organize and prepare for such a wonderful evening!
Or Atid’s Family Shabbat Experience – A Snaky Surprise!
On Friday, April 4, Or Atid hosted a very special family Shabbat experience, with around 40 people in attendance, coming together for a fun and memorable evening.
The night began with a lively Shabbat service, with song and musical instruments, followed by a delicious kiddush and pizza dinner with desserts. For the children, a special guest brought reptiles, offering them a chance to learn about and interact with these fascinating creatures.
It was a wonderful experience that everyone, from grandparents to children, will remember!
Our next Family Shabbat experience will be on Friday, May 2, which will be the last one until September.
Please register for the event at www.oratid.org/event/YJF-May-2025 or contact the synagogue office at (804) 740-4747.
L’ dor V’ dor- From Generation to Generation
On March 25, congregants from Congregation Or Atid and community members joined Rabbi Elisha Paul, Head of School at RTA – Richmond Hebrew Day School, for a discussion on the unique role Judaism places on the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren.
Rabbi Paul shared personal insights and highlighted how this bond is celebrated in Jewish tradition, especially during Passover, when grandparents pass down traditions and stories. It was a meaningful conversation that resonated with all who attended.
A huge thank you goes out to the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond for sponsoring this informative program.
