Friendship Circle of Virginia (FCVA) focuses on creating an inclusive community, one friendship at a time.
Our core programs are Friends Programs: Friends@Home and Friends with Pens.
The pandemic caused true social distancing and has proven how important connection and friendship is. FCVA is excited to kick off this new year full of friendship and community!
Friends@Home supports building friendships through a unique “at home” platform. Two Teen Friends are paired together with a child, teen, or young adult with a disability to meet for one hour per week in the child’s home to experience the joy of fun and friendship on their own terms. These relationships are nurtured and grow into lasting friendships full of meaning and honesty between the three friends and their families. This core program builds the foundation of friendship throughout our community.
Friends with Pens is a direct result of being digitally connected for so long and we are bringing back actual pen and paper! In this Pen Pal program, a Teen Friend to a child, teen, or young adult with a disability twice a month and their friend can choose to write back. Who doesn’t love to receive a letter in the mail?!
