Hadassah Charlottesville has invited Hadassah Richmond to participate in a special program: JEWISH IN VIRGINIA: OUR PAST, OUR PRESENT, OUR FUTURE.

The event will be Sunday, Oct. 22 from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the UVA Hillel Brody Jewish Center, 1824 University Circle, Charlottesville.

From the family who saved Monticello, through the Civil War, and present day, we will explore being Jewish in Virginia. Highlights include:

  • The Jewish community in Virginia during the Civil War,
  • The Levy Family and Monticello,
  • VA House Bill 1606, which formally adopts the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of antisemitism,
  • Speaking with people who have different beliefs and learning through dialogue.

Guest Speakers will be S. Waite Rawls III, former Co-CEO American Civil War Museum; Marc Leepson, author of Saving Monticello; Rachel Wahl, UVA Professor and Anne Ferrell Tata, Virginia State Delegate.

The cost is $36 per person that includes continental breakfast, buffet lunch and snacks.

RSVP by October 13. Members, spouses/significant others, friends and nonmembers are welcome to attend.
