In February, Or Atid is delighted to invite members of the greater Richmond Jewish community to attend and participate in Or Atid’s Scholar in Residence program.
This special weekend event will be filled with several activities.
It will be hosted at Or Atid on Feb.16-17 and will feature Rabbi Dr. Leila Gal Berner.

A Fulbright scholar, Dr. Berner has taught at Emory and American Universities and Reed and Swarthmore Colleges and currently teaches in the ALEPH Ordination Program. She is the author of Listening to the Heart of Genesis: A Contemplative Path, a new gateway into Torah learning.
On Friday evening Feb. 16, at 5 p.m., Dr. Berner will address “Jews of Spain.” Her lecture will be followed by a Musical Kabbalat Shabbat service and a delicious catered dinner.
On Saturday morning Feb. 17, at 10 a.m., there will be a special Shabbat service with the D’var Torah given by Dr. Berner. The service will be followed by a Kiddush and lecture with Dr. Berner discussing “Jews in Muslim Spain.”
On Saturday evening Feb. 17, at 6:30 p.m., there will be a Dessert Havdalah followed by Dr. Berner giving a lecture on “Jews of Uganda.” Following the lecture, there will be entertainment of “Shirim with Zack Samuels,” an uplifting performance and sing along.
