Since its inception in August 2022, Richmond Jewish Learning Experience, an independent organization, has brought exciting and engaging Jewish learning opportunities to adults throughout Richmond.

The mission of RJLE is to offer Jewish learning to each and every Jew who wishes to partake of the beauty and majesty of our heritage, regardless of background.

Recognizing that the Torah is the birthright of every single Jew, and the need for more adult Jewish learning opportunities to be widely available in our Richmond community, RJLE offers classes, partner study, and community-wide initiatives.

Our Leadership & Organization

Rabbi Don Cantor

Rabbi Don Cantor, a Richmond native, is RJLE’s new Director of Education. He hit the ground running in August 2023, expanding upon the momentum of Rabbi Yosef Bart.

Rabbi Cantor is a graduate of Yeshiva of Virginia. After high school, he studied Torah at Yeshivat Har Etzion in Israel, received a BA in philosophy from Virginia Commonwealth University, and semicha (Rabbinic ordination) from Rav Chaim Ozer Chait.

He previously taught Talmud at the Yeshiva of Virginia and most recently served as the Director of the Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus (JLIC) at Johns Hopkins University, alongside his wife Leora (nee Lewis).

In addition to his new role with RJLE, Rabbi Cantor serves as a senior educator for JLIC’s Yavneh on Campus student leadership program.

We are pleased to share the RJLE impact report for August – December 2023, with gratitude to our donors and participants for their invaluable participation and support.

If you have questions, would like to set up a time to study, or want to be added to the RJLE email list and WhatsApp group please reach out to Rabbi Don Cantor at (804) 305-5715 or rabbicantor@rjle.org.
