H.J. “Jack” Bernstein (OBM).

Celebrating 76 years of adventure and growth at Camp Hilbert is truly a testament to the vision and dedication of Hilbert Jack Bernstein.

His legacy lives on in the countless memories made by campers over the years.

From its modest beginnings on a Chesterfield County farm to its expansive 186-acre site in Goochland County, Camp Hilbert has been a beacon of outdoor fun, skill-building, and friendship since 1947.

The transformation of the farm into a recreational oasis, thanks to Hilbert Jack Bernstein’s generosity, laid the foundation for what would become a beloved summer tradition for generations.

His decision to entrust the site to the Richmond Jewish Community Center, now known as the Weinstein JCC, was a gift that continues to enrich the lives of children to this day.

Despite challenges like the hurricane damage in 1969, the resilience and commitment of the JCC community ensured that Camp Hilbert not only survived but thrived.

The move to Goochland County in the early 1970s marked a new chapter in the camp’s history, providing even more opportunities for adventure and growth in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Camp Hilbert today.

Today, Camp Hilbert stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of community and the power of summer camp to shape young lives.

The Bernstein family’s continued support is a reminder of the impact that one person’s vision can have on an entire community.

As we celebrate 76 years of Camp Hilbert, we honor the legacy of Hilbert Jack Bernstein and look forward to many more summers of friendship, adventure, and fun.
