Virginia Holocaust Museum

Every day I get excited to walk into the Museum and see progress from the past 24 hours on our renovation project.

I’m pleased to report it is moving along nicely.

Currently, the work crews are concentrating on putting up drywall. The new Visitor’s Media room is getting a treatment of double-thickness drywall, essentially making the space soundproof to enhance the Museum visitor’s experience.

Soon, we expect shelving and glass display spaces to be installed in our new and greatly expanded Museum Shop. Once that happens, one will truly have a sense of how magnificent the new front entryway is going to be.

To recognize all the many generous donors and patrons who contributed to our 25th Anniversary Capital Campaign who made these improvements possible, we are commissioning a permanent Donor Recognition, which will prominently be displayed in our new entranceway.

We are hoping to unveil at our next Annual Meeting, tentatively scheduled for October 18th. It’s not too late to see your name on the permanent display! If you have not contributed to the Capital Campaign and would like to, please send Development Manager Brett Schrader an email at: bschrader@vaholocaust.org and we will make certain your name appears on the new wall!

If you have not come by to see the Roy G. Levin special exhibit, you have a little more time, as it has been extended until Sept. 1st.

Also, come by and see our new Crematoria Exhibit. The new design is exceptional, and I want to acknowledge our Director of Collections Tim Hensley, who is the vision and creative force behind the new space.

VHM’s Crematoria Exhibit recently opened.
