From a past Klezmer in the Sukkah.

By David Goldstein, Ph.D.

Jewish life “South of the James” has been busy with special occasions and High Holiday services.

September began with our “President’s Service,” led by congregational co-president Brian Silver and sisterhood president Janis Sussman on the eighth.

Rosh Hashanah services were led by Hazzan Moshe Sherman and accompanied by guest soloist Lynn Lapidus.  Yom Kippur’s Kol Nidre and morning services were also led by the Hazzan and his vocal guest performer.

Sept. 29 is Erev Sukkot with October bringing us Sukkot and Simchat Torah celebrations. Planning is underway for celebrations for these events, likely similar to last year’s “Klezmer in the Sukkah” and “Torah Procession Party.”

Shabbat services are ongoing on Friday nights at 7:30 p.m., both in-person and on Zoom.
