Dec. 4 – Christina Keyser Vida, Elise H. Wright Curator of General Collections at the Valentine Museum. “Sculpting History at the Valentine Studio: Art, Power, and the “Lost Cause” American Myth.
Christina is responsible for the museum’s objects collection as well as the early Federal period Wickham House and the Edward Valentine Sculpture Studio.
She has previous work experience in curatorial and education roles at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Windsor Historical Society (CT), and the Virginia Museum of History & Culture (Virginia Historical Society).
Since 2020, she has served as the Project Manager for the Valentine Studio Project and is collaborating with colleagues to reinterpret the history and legacy of the Lost Cause mythology and the impact of public monuments on private thought and public policy.
Dec. 11 – ENRICH FOR LIFE: Alan Pollack, professional pianist sharing Scott Joplin’s School of Ragtime Music.
Alan has been playing the piano since he was 8 years old. He holds a B.A. in Music from Brooklyn College CUNY, and a PhD in Music from the University of Pennsylvania.
After retiring, he relocated to Richmond in 2015 where he has returned to his first love, the piano. He’s performed several times for the 5400 Club and at the Jewish Food Festival, and offers a regular series of music courses at the Osher Institute/UR.
We will be celebrating Chanukah as well, with a delicious free holiday lunch and some holiday songs from our very own Grand Tones.
Lunch begins at 11:45. Program starts at 12:30.

Dec. 18 – Major General Mari Eder. From a renowned author, speaker, and retired U.S. Army Major, General Eder returns to the JCC to bring us this new, exciting and superbly researched story of a trailblazer who courageously dedicated her life to public service.
“The Girls Who Fought Crime: The Untold True Story of the Country’s First Female Investigator and Her Crime Fighting Squad.”
