As usual, I waited past the deadline to write my President’s message and if delivered earlier how different it would be.

I would be leading with my anticipation of the 2nd annual Hadassah Advocacy Program on Reproductive Rights, the Challah Bake, and the program with Hadassah Charlottesville on Jews in Virginia: Our Past, Our Present, Our Future – all important events that will have happened by now.

But, instead, I am horrified to be writing after the unfathomable and nightmarish events that happened on Shabbat, Oct. 7, and continue to happen.

We all know someone in Israel – those who live there permanently and those who were visiting.

We have been urgently sending emails and texts to confirm their safety. I hope by publication of this message the situation in Israel has improved.

Your support of Hadassah will help Hadassah Hospital provide much-needed care, support, and medical assistance to so many affected by this terrible tragedy.

In anticipation of better times, Hadassah Richmond and the Weinstein JCC are planning a Game Day on Feb. 11 with lunch and a small fashion show.

Claudia Biegler and Sylvia Farbstein are co-chairing our Hadassah health event on March 3, “Love the Skin You Are In.”

I am so proud of our chapter for raising $1,000 from the Jewish New Year’s Card fundraiser for which every member received an electronic greeting. Thank you to all who participated.

Yasher Koach to Toby Rosenthal for continuing to chair the annual Mah Jong card fundraiser. Our chapter raised $1,300 last year.

See the accompanying information to participate again this year. For the same price if you order from the National Mah Jongg League, if you send it to Toby, Hadassah Richmond receives $5 back!
