 A Fun-Filled Family Shabbat Experience

On Friday, March 1, Congregation Or Atid held one of its Family Shabbat Experiences with over 90 people in attendance.

Everyone enjoyed this lively Shabbat program, led by Rabbi Sherry Grinsteiner, which included singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments as well as a kid-friendly dinner.

Or Atid welcomes families in the community to attend these wonderful programs for children and their parents/grandparents.  This program is a great opportunity for non-members to attend as it provides a wonderful opportunity for young families in the community to get to know each other.

The next Family Shabbat Experiences are scheduled for April 5th and May 3rd.

For additional information and/or to register for these programs, please contact the Or Atid Office at (804) 740-4747 or by email to: office@oratid.org

Congregation Or Atid Members treated to a Joey Weisenberg Workshop

On Tuesday evening Feb. 26, a few members of Congregation Or Atid joined with other members of the various Richmond Jewish communities in a special exhilarating event hosted by Temple Beth-El showcasing the talents of Joey Weisenberg.

Weisenberg, the Founder and Director of Hadar’s Rising Song Institute, is the author of Building Singing Communities, The Torah of Music and the winner of the 2017 National Jewish Book Award.

A devoted student and teacher of traditional Jewish melodies, his classes have enabled students and others worldwide to study Jewish songs and prayer. His musical compositions have moved and inspired thousands.

In this session, he delivered a combination of equal parts intensive skill-building and beautiful experiential singing. Participants left with a deepened understanding of Nigun (wordless melody) and strategies for bringing more inspirational music back into their own communities.
