Feb. 16, Richmond, VA – Today, three charities founded by the local Richmond Lessin family, Cheers, The Jerusalem Connection, and Camp Binyan Torah, donated $500,000 to the Rudlin Torah Academy in Richmond, Virginia.
In the last year, the three charities, which raise money through a charitable bingo hall and charitable Texas Hold’em tournaments in Richmond, gave over $300,000 in the past year to organizations such as Feed More, Virginia Learns, Tunnels to Towers, the American Red Cross, Ladies of Elegance, Child Savers, and more.
“Nothing brings me more pleasure than being able to contribute in a meaningful way to organizations and schools, such as Rudlin Torah Academy,” said Chuck Lessin, the founder of all three charities. “We are excited to offer a starting point towards a new facility for this outstanding school.”
“We are humbled by the generosity of this gift from the Lessin family and the charities they founded,” said Daniel Roth, President of Rudlin Torah Academy. “The family’s generous donation at this time reinforces the optimism and confidence in the future of Rudlin Torah Academy that has been growing over the past few months due to our efforts to enhance the governance of the school and improve the educational experience of our children. Our gratitude for all that these charities have done for RTA and in our community cannot be overstated.”
