Passover is around the corner, and the Weinstein JCC is thrilled to announce the exhibition of Judaic clay works by renowned ceramicist Al Pellenberg.

Al’s stunning clay seder plates and other Judaic pieces will be showcased in the lobby’s front glass case, starting April 1st and running through the summer.

Al Pellenberg’s journey from architect to artist has been nothing short of remarkable. With a lifelong passion for working with clay, Al’s transition from designing structures to crafting intricate ceramic pieces has been a natural evolution. Over two decades of experience on the wheel and in hand-building have honed his artistic vision, drawing inspiration from the principles of architecture.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Al generously contributes his time and talents to the community, donating pieces for fundraisers and creating graphic campaigns for non-profits.

His commitment to giving back is exemplified by his role as Art Director for the Capital Pride Alliance, where he helps plan events like WorldPride DC 2025.

All works displayed will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting Cultural Arts at the JCC.

Save the date for another exciting event at the Weinstein JCC: the opening of Israeli American artist Anne Schlachter Dagan’s exhibit “BRIGHT DARKNESS” on May 9th. Anne’s unique sensitivity to light and colorblindness is showcased through mesmerizing black and white paintings, inviting viewers to explore the interplay of shadows and light.

The exhibit will feature an Artists’ Talk and Reception on May 9th at 7 p.m., followed by a Lunch and Learn session with Anne Schlachter Dagan on May 10th at 1 p.m. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience art from a different perspective!
