Join the Weinstein JCC Board of Directors, leadership, and staff in celebrating this past year at the Annual Meeting on Sunday, May 19.

The Weinstein JCC will host this year’s event in-person at the Center with the doors opening at 2:30 p.m. The meeting is from 3-4 p.m. followed by a party on the plaza at 4 p.m. This event is free and open to the community with live music, food, and fun!

We will look back and honor all we have accomplished in this past year. This year’s annual meeting is dedicated to the community who have supported us, the staff that continues to inspire us, and the volunteers and leadership that sustain us.

Recognizing Greg Bishop

The community is invited to join in thanking and celebrating outgoing Board President Greg Bishop. Greg brought extensive knowledge and experience to the position of President and has been instrumental in ensuring the financial stability of the Center, as well as focusing on best practices regarding governance.

He has been actively involved on the JCC Board for over 18 years. His three children are proud graduates of the Dora L. Lewis Family and Child Development Center and attended Camp Hilbert many times over the years.

Welcoming Stuart Simon

We also look forward to welcoming incoming President Stuart Simon. Stuart is a lifelong member of the JCC and has been an avid gym user for more than fifty years. He is an active member of the Board and has served on numerous committees over the years as well as search and other special task forces, each contributing to the progress and success of the Center.

He co-developed and has co-chaired with Lynn Schwartz the Young Leadership Program which has yielded several graduates who have become committee and board members.

His two children, Wes and Ashley, went to the Dora L. Lewis Family and Child Development Center and have served on the Board as well. Stuart’s wife, Barbara, is an extraordinary volunteer at the Center and was instrumental in making A Night at the Races Gala a tremendous success the past two years.

2024 Edith & H.J. Bernstein Volunteer Leadership Award

The meeting will include recognition of Bruce Perretz, this year’s recipient of the Esther, Edith & H.J. Bernstein Volunteer Leadership Award.

Bruce is a long-time member and supporter of the center. He has been an active member of the Board of Directors, currently serving as a Vice-Present and the Chair of the Operations Committee. Bruce has dedicated many hours to the JCC, and the center has been fortunate to be able to rely on his building and operations expertise.

We are honored to have Bruce Perretz serving on the board and excited to present him with the Esther, Edith, and H.J. Bernstein Volunteer Leadership Award.

The Weinstein JCC is supported, in part, by a generous annual contribution, and programming grants from the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond.
