The Paula Carl Mega Challah Bake, featuring Rochie Pinson, master challah baker and the author of the internationally bestselling “RISING! The Book of Challah,” was held on October 15th at Chabad of Virginia.
Nearly 150 women gathered for a beautiful afternoon to hear from Rochie about the deeper significance of challah, the power of the Jewish woman, and how challah is truly a recipe for life.
Rochie demonstrated several fun ways to braid challah with each woman having the opportunity to create her own unique challah bread. It was especially meaningful to have Rabbi Yossel Kranz share thoughts about Israel, and our connection as a community coming together to make challah.
Paula’s family led the blessing of making challah reminding us of her beautiful spirit and love for Judaism.
The Paula Carl Mega Challah Bake was co-chaired by Lynn Schwartz. Erika Schwartz Kain, Meredith Schwartz, and Jennifer Gerton, who, along with their committee, honored Paula Carl (obm) by donating the proceeds from the event to the JCFR’s Israel Emergency Campaign.
