The Tikkun Olam Committee has been very busy this year with social action projects.

Our book group read and had a lively discussion about The Way into Tikkun Olam by Elliot N. Dorff.

The Temple Beth-El Knitting Group created hand-made items and donated them to women’s shelters and services for unhoused people.

We participated with members of “Richmonders Involved to Strengthen our Community” (RISC) to advocate for gun control, affordable housing, and mobile home repair.

Our High Holiday drive collected donations for Feed More and the Purim drive for Leket Israel.

We collected donations to provide new shoes for the 2023-24 school year for students at Broad Rock, Woodville, and Ratcliffe Elementary schools.

We also provide math and reading buddies at Lois Harrison Jones Elementary School.

We are working with Jewish Family Services to help settle Ukrainian refugees in our community as well as with the International Refugee Committee and Or Atid to support a Syrian family.

Finally, in November we joined the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy as a 100% voting congregation.

Come join us to do good and feel good!
