May 8 – Bernie Henderson, President Emeritus and Funeral Celebrant Nelson and Woody Funeral Homes, Topic: “Memories as a Congressional Mule for President Lyndon B. Johnson.” When Bernie worked in the Clerk’s Office of the U. S. House of Representatives, one of his assigned duties, was to be a courier, or “mule” between Congressional leadership and former President Lyndon B. Johnson. Bernie will share memories and observations about this rare behind-the-scenes experience.

May 15 –  5400 Club Installation Brunch:  noon: For Paid-up 5400 Club members only. RSVP is a must.

May 22 –  ENRICH FOR LIFE: Brian Trader, (pictured above) President/CEO of Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, “On The Horizon At Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.” Prior to joining the Garden in 2021, Brian worked at Delaware Botanic Gardens as Deputy Executive Director and spent a decade at Longwood Gardens as the Director of Domestic and International Studies.

Brian earned a Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. from Virginia Tech and has taught at Virginia Tech, Mississippi State University, and the University of Delaware.

Note: Lunch served at 11:45. Speaker at 12:30.
