The Weinstein JCC Jewish Family Theatre’s branch of youth summer programming, SECOND STAGE, began rehearsals in mid-April.

Having a combined cast of teen/young adults of 20 plus actors, they are led by the team of Hanna Clinton and Elle Meerovich to tell the story of a team of Broadway actors and their efforts to bring diversity and acceptance to a small Texas town.

This show opened on Broadway in 2016 and was adapted for the small screen in 2020, bringing this important story to a much wider audience.

Performance schedule is May 30 – June 11.

For performance dates and times visit weinsteinjcc.org. For more information and ways in which you or your student can help or be involved, contact Deb Clinton, producing Artistic Director of the Jewish Family Theatre at dclinton@weinsteinjcc.org.

This is not the only example of youth programming at the Weinstein JCC.

On April 20, students from Thomas Dale High School and Hanover High School came together to present a co-production of “I Never Saw Another Butterfly,” by Celeste Raspanti.

This moving piece told the story of the children of the Terezin concentration camp and how they immortalized their spirt and lives through poems and drawings discovered after the war.

JFT at the Weinstein JCC continues to promote their mission of bringing Jewish traditions and stories to a wider audience in the hopes of creating a greater understanding of the Jewish experience.
