Team Richmond is gearing up for an exciting venture to Detroit for the 2024 Maccabi Games, scheduled from July 28th to August 4th.
Open to Jewish teens ages 12-16, the Games offer a diverse range of sports, promoting both camaraderie and competition.
The Detroit Maccabi Games encompass various sports, including baseball, basketball (3on3 & 5on5), dance, ice hockey, girls’ volleyball, golf, soccer, table tennis, tennis, swimming, and star reporter.
This comprehensive experience covers airfare, travel, week-long meals, accommodation, Team Richmond swag (hat, backpack, shirts, etc.), uniforms, and all scheduled activities.
Recognizing the challenging times for the Jewish community, Team Richmond underscores the core Midot (Values) of JCC Maccabi, with a particular focus on Amit Yehudit (Jewish Peoplehood). In these trying times, unity and celebration of Jewish life, pride, and community take precedence. The Games aim to provide a secure space for Jewish teens to express their identity as Jews, athletes, and friends.
Participants can anticipate immersing themselves in the spirit of JCC Maccabi, representing Richmond, building connections with roommates and teammates, engaging in community service, competing on an international stage, and enjoying unique nightly social events.
Each athlete will receive a SWAG bag containing their Team Richmond uniform and delegation gear, worn proudly during the week and at the opening ceremony. Picture walking into a stadium before thousands, knowing that every participant shares your Jewish identity. Trade gear with teens from around the world, make new friends, and experience the unique camaraderie of the Maccabi Games.
